We are proud to announce that El Observador, the bilingual Spanish language newspaper, endorses Manuel for City Council in District 5.

"Manuel Herrera knows that Eastside's future will be determined by the opportunities that we provide our community's children. As an experienced high school district trustee, he always puts families first; as our new Councilmember, J. Manuel Herrera will connect needed City resources to District 5's more than 25,000 kids."
~Anna Song, President, Santa Clara County Board of Education

Friends,

I am a candidate for San Jose City Council in District 5, the Alum Rock neighborhood where I grew up and where strong family ties and community friendships have endured over the years. Over the past two decades, my work in the Council District 5 community has remained vibrant and true, particularly through my service as a Trustee for the East Side Union High School District.

Most importantly, I am an independent candidate who will be free to represent the best interest of the community instead of special interest groups who have invested $100K-$200K to get their candidates elected. My campaign has moved forward with small donations and great support from people like you.

The agenda for our city is clear. Even in tough times, the City must ensure that it can provide adequate public safety and basic neighborhood services. Now is the time for fiscal responsibility and shared sacrifice at City Hall to ensure that families, youth, and small businesses come first in our budget priorities.

We must also stay the course for a more vibrant downtown, a world class airport, BART to San Jose, a new ballpark that makes sense for taxpayers, higher performing schools, smart growth that locates more housing near jobs, and a continuing notable record of public safety for a major American city.

If you want to communicate with me directly, please contact me at JManuelHerrera@aol.com or 408-839-7912, my cell phone.

Thank you, too, for forwarding my campaign website link to your personal network.

XXXXManuel
